Oranges are rich in vitamin C, which, in addition to keeping you healthy on the inside, is also great for keeping your complexion clear and fresh. There are so many ways to enjoy oranges – as a juice, in salads, on its own as a snack, in desserts and more.

Freshly squeezed juice
Eating oranges can sometimes be time-consuming and awkward, particularly if you’re like me and have limited time in the mornings before work. But, if you have a juicer at home, even a plastic squeezer, it only takes about 2 minutes to squeeze a glass of 2 oranges, and even less time to drink it!
To get the maximum health benefit, orange juice is best consumed as soon as soon it has been squeezed, because when vitamin C is exposed to oxygen it depletes quickly.
Orange peel in tea
Orange peel has been used in teas for centuries to fight diseases, preserve immunity, act as a dige
stive and stimulate the appetite. Recent medical studies have also found that it helps to lower cholesterol. If you’re already a tea drinker, simply add a couple of small slices of fresh orange peel to your tea to absorb for a couple of minutes.
Health benefits
Oranges are considered a super-food because of the high amount of anti-oxidant and flavonoids. Regular consumption of oranges helps to fight and prevent the following diseases and conditions:
- Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
- Cancers of the mouth, skin, lung and gastrointestinal cancers.
- Constipation
- Heart disease and high blood pressure (hypertension)
- Kidney stones
- Skin & anti-ageing (OK, not a disease, but regular orange consumption helps to maintain youthful, healthy skin)
- Sperm (again, not a disease, but oranges do help to maintain healthy sperm)
- Stomach ulcers
Moderation
Remember, everything is good in moderation. Excessive consumption of any type of food is not recommended and it only takes one orange to give you just about one hundred per cent of the recommended daily vitamin C intake.
